Doug Isenberg Co-Chairs 'Inn of Court' Meeting on Domain Name Disputes

Doug Isenberg served as co-chair for a meeting of the Atlanta Intellectual Property (IP) Inn of Court on domain name disputes. The program was held in the ceremonial courtroom at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on April 19, 2017. The program included a presentation by Doug on how to resolve domain name disputes, including under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Policy (UDRP) and the Uniform Rapid Suspension System (URS).

The Atlanta IP Inn of Court, a part of the American Inns of Court, is an amalgam of judges, lawyers, law professors and law students. The Inn meets approximately once a month to hold programs and discussions on matters of ethics, skills and professionalism relevant to intellectual property attorneys. Doug is a charter member of the Inn, which was founded in 2010.

Doug Isenberg to Speak at Brand Protection Summit

Doug Isenberg will speak at "NYC Summit 2017," a brand protection program organized by MarkMonitor. The Summit takes place on April 25, 2017, in New York City. At NYC Summit, attendees will hear about best practices that impact their approach to brand protection -- from key government officials, law enforcement agencies, intellectual property and legal professionals and MarkMonitor customers.

Doug's topic is "Domain Name Disputes in the New World of New gTLDs." He will discuss the relevance of top-level domains in trademark disputes and explain how the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) and the Uniform Rapid Suspension System (URS) are being applied to new gTLDs.

GigaLaw Offers Free Webinar on 'How to Dispute a .us Domain Name'

In a free webinar, Doug Isenberg of GigaLaw and Renee Fossen of FORUM will provide information about the two dispute policies that are available to trademark owners under the .us country-code top-level domain (ccTLD): the usTLD Dispute Resolution Policy (“usDRP”) and the usTLD Rapid Suspension Dispute Policy (“usRS”). The webinar will be broadcast on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from 1-2 p.m. Eastern Time.

The webinar will provide an overview of the usDRP (which allows a trademark owner to seek the transfer or cancellation of a .us domain name) and the usRS (which allows a trademark owner to seek the temporary suspension of a .us domain name). The webinar will discuss the substantive elements of these two policies and how they differ from the larger and more well-known Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) and Uniform Rapid Suspension System (URS). The webinar will also explain how to file a usDRP or usRS complaint and explore some important decisions under these two policies.
