Doug Isenberg, attorney and founder of The GigaLaw Firm, was a guest speaker (virtually) at a conference in Serbia titled “Illegal Internet Trade” on December 8, 2021.
The conference was organized by the Serbian National Internet Domain Registry (RNIDS) and Pravni Fakultet Univerziteta Union, the Union University School of Law in New Belgrade, Serbia.
Doug’s presentation was titled, “Domain Name Dispute Trends and Case Studies,” and it focused on the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), which, as Doug noted during his presentation, has seen a record-setting number of complaints from trademark owners this year.
Other speakers at the conference included attorney Olivera Medenica of Dunnington Bartholow & Miller LLP in New York, who spoke on “Ecommerce Platforms and Secondary Trademark Liability Under US Laws“; and Dr. Roberto Garza-Barbosa, Professor of Law at the University of Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, who spoke on “Global Infringement by Using the Internet and National Preliminary Injunctions.”
