Microsoft Agrees to Comply with EU's Antitrust Order

Microsoft dropped its decade-long antitrust battle with European regulators by agreeing not to appeal a landmark Sept. 17 court ruling. The European Commission's ruling, which upheld a 2004 decision by a lower court, requires the company to cut the royalty fees it charges to competitors for access to information that allows them to create software for Windows, the world's biggest PC operating system.
