Web Analytics Software Firm Settles Patent Case for $9 Million

Web analytics software company Visual Sciences will pay a rival at least $9 million as part of an agreement by both companies to drop lawsuits over countering patent infringement claims, Visual Sciences said. By clearing away uncertainty over the litigation with NetRatings, the deal could improve the likelihood of a suitor acquiring Visual Sciences, said Sean Jackson, a managing director and technology company analyst for investment bank Avondale Partners of Nashville, Tenn.
