A Nigerian convicted of running a sophisticated identity theft ring that stole the personal data of online gamblers registered with BetonSports was sentenced to 34 months in prison. Lanre Elekede, 32, is the lead defendant in the case in which he pleaded guilty to stealing the identity of at least 175 individuals.
