Movie Website Infringes, Chinese Court Rules

A Beijing court ruled that Beijing Sohu Internet Information Service Co, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Sohu.com, was guilty of copyright infringement when it posted digital files of motion pictures on the Sohu.com website for downloading without consent of the copyright owners. The court ordered the defendants pay damages and costs of 1.085 mln yuan, publish an acknowledgement of its infringements and pledge to refrain from future infringements, the U.S. Motion Picture Association said in a statement.
