Europe Delays Reforming Copyright Tax on Gadgets

The European Commission has delayed reforming a tax on gadgets such as MP3 players that can reproduce copyright material, a step the electronics industry said was a capitulation to French concerns. Electronics firms say the levy is a double taxation as people already pay a fee for downloading copyright material, but top filmmakers such as Pedro Almodovar argue the 560 million euros ($743 million) raised last year is key to funding productions.
