Patent Office Rejects 19 of 46 Claims for JPEG Patent

Forgent Networks says the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has denied 19 of the 46 claims in its disputed JPEG patent, but will "vigorously defend" them in continuing actions with the office. Forgent is in litigation regarding the patent with about 30 companies, including Apple Computer Inc., Dell Inc., Eastman Kodak Co., Hewlett-Packard Co., International Business Machines Corp., Microsoft Corp., and Sun Microsystems Inc.
