Doug Isenberg Attends Meeting of WIPO Domain Name Panelists in Geneva
Doug Isenberg attended the annual meeting of domain name panelists at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 28, 2013. The meeting was attended by approximately 100 domain name panelists from around the world, representing 29 countries, including Australia, China, Japan, Mexico, the United States and many countries in Europe and other parts of the globe.
WIPO is the largest provider of services under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Policy (UDRP), the popular method of resolving competing claims to domain names.
Based in Geneva, Switzerland, with a further office in Singapore, the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center was established in 1994 to offer alternative dispute resolution options, in particular arbitration and mediation, for the resolution of international commercial disputes between private parties. Developed by leading experts in cross-border dispute settlement, the procedures offered by the Center are widely recognized as particularly appropriate for technology, entertainment and other disputes involving intellectual property.
In addition to serving as a domain name panelist for WIPO, Doug regularly represents clients in domain name disputes and is also a panelist for the National Arbitration Forum (NAF), the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC) and the British Columbia International Commercial Arbitration Centre (BCICAC).
Doug Isenberg Speaks to Software Law Class
Doug Isenberg gave a live, virtual presentation on September 28, 2013, to a class at Washington University School of Law. The class, taught by Greg Kirsch of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, is titled "Intellectual Property Protection of Computer of Software." Doug's presentation, "The Intersection of Domain Names and Trademark Law," focused on the history of domain name disputes and current developments regarding new generic top-level domains, including the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), the Uniform Rapid Suspension System (URS) and the Trademark Clearinghouse.
Doug holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Washington University.
Doug Isenberg Discusses Internet Law on 'High Velocity Radio Show'
Doug Isenberg was a guest on the "High Velocity Radio Show" on August 5, 2013. The show, hosted by Stone Payton and Lee Kantor, interviews "Top Performers Producing Better Results In Less Time." On the show, Doug spoke about current issues in Internet law, including cybersquatting and online copyright infringement.
